Igor Markin

Senior Full-Stack Engineer

I build LLM‑powered products that hold up in production.

11 years in web development: 5 as a freelancer and 6 in product teams, including a team lead role. I work mostly on the backend with Python, Node.js, TypeScript and PostgreSQL.

Torhair admin: notifications, menu and calendar screens

In production

Torhair

A mobile-first booking system for an independent hairstylist in Israel. It replaced manual scheduling, chats and spreadsheets. Online booking, a mobile admin, reminders, protection against double booking, verified backups.

Hebrew Live

Live Hebrew transcription with translation next to it. Recognition and translation run locally on Apple Silicon, without a cloud service. I measured latency on real recordings and made the first draft appear 24% sooner.

Experience

  1. Mar 2026 – now

    Defacta

    Lead Engineer · Contract

    • Early-stage startup that helps people check claims and sources with LLMs. Lead engineer in a team of six.
    • Took the product from a backend pipeline to a web app and a Chrome extension in production.
    • Owned architecture, releases and production support. Compared models by quality, speed and cost.
  2. Mar 2023 – Apr 2026

    Adzz

Team Lead, from Aug 2023 · Senior Software Engineer before that

    • Designed an LLM content pipeline from scratch: $40 → $0.50 per article, 58 projects. Business-critical rules stayed in code, not in prompts.
    • Built the internal platform: CRM, marketplace and QA bots.
    • Introduced code review and CI/CD, mentored four engineers and stayed hands-on.
  3. 2021 – 2023

    Claustrophobia

    Backend Developer · Python, Django

    • Django backend and internal admin tools for a network of escape rooms.
    • Restored a broken migration history so the team could deploy safely again.
  4. 2020 – 2021

    Legsy

    Python Developer

    • Fintech MVP for retail investors: brokerage API integrations and real-time stock alerts.
  5. 2015 – 2020

    Freelance

    Web Developer

    • 70+ websites for small businesses, mostly on WordPress. Full cycle, directly with business owners.

How I work

I own the design

I use AI coding agents every day. I write the requirements and architecture, review every change and test the result myself.

Reliability is a feature

Tests, migrations, backups and monitoring are part of the product, not a later task.

Close to the product

I do best in small teams where I go from an unclear request to a working release and stay after launch.
